Liz Williams was born and raised in Atlanta and grew up surrounded by beautiful Southern homes. This was one of the reasons why after graduating from the College of Charleston, she enrolled in Georgia State University’s Interior Design program. After graduating with her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Liz set out on a career in interior design, first joining the Carter Kay Interiors team. After five years of gaining experience with working with residential clients, she embarked on her own path, officially opening her own studio in 1998.
Liz’s clients appreciate her ability to breathe new life into their historic homes, often passed down from generation to generation, while ensuring they remain timeless. Liz infuses high end traditional and contemporary design elements into her projects, placing an emphasis on livability and comfortability. She specializes in generational homes, beach, and lake homes.
Q&A
What Cuvée Home items did you select and why?
I selected both the small and large Tamegroute Pedestal Bowls. They were the perfect green for the space and I love the handmade feel of them. Varying heights are always a plus when styling any surface. I also chose the Large Scalloped Lacquered Tray in Olive as an anchor for the bar area. The juxtaposition of its sleek finish with the texture of the stone adds interest to the mix.

Describe your home or personal design aesthetic in 3 words:
Classic, Detailed, Collected.
What is your favorite styling piece or accessory?
I would say that trays are my favorite styling accessory; trays are perfect for a bar or to contain books on a coffee table. A tray adds that extra layer of color, texture, or a fun shape!

Favorite Design Book:
It is hard to narrow it down to one! Lately, I have enjoyed Caroline Gidiere’s beautiful book, A Life in Good Taste. I love her classic and charming rooms that feature fresh color and pattern.
Favorite Cocktail:
My favorite cocktail is a dirty martini with a blue cheese olive.
Where do you find inspiration?
Design inspiration can come from just about anywhere! Travel, art, nature, fashion, or architecture, along with the spaces that we experience on a daily basis. I also look to shelter magazines, Instagram, well-designed hotels and restaurants, and of course the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center where our design studio is now located!
What is your favorite room in your house and why?
Our living room — it’s a great mix of inherited antiques and art from my parents and in-laws, paired with colorful upholstery, a few transitional pieces, and my favorite chartreuse glazed linen curtain panels with brown greek key trim.
Any tips for creating a stylish home?
I love to follow Bunny Williams’s tip, “If you love something, it will work.” I definitely think that is true, and of course we all want to surround ourselves with things we love!
